Sérgio Francisco
I am an infrastructure engineer. The market splits that into DevOps, Site Reliability Engineer, Platform Engineer and Cloud Architect, and I have delivered as each of them. Underneath it all I am a sysadmin who kept up with the market.
Seventeen years, starting in September 2008 as an IT intern at RNP. Six of those years running Kubernetes in production across EKS, AKS and GKE — from a 30-cluster global fleet to GitOps delivery with Argo CD, Flux and Helm charts written in-house. Most of what I am good at is turning an ambiguous production problem into something shipped and measurable, and building the tooling that keeps other teams' services reliable.
I work from Rio de Janeiro, in UTC-3 — full overlap with US East.
How I work
I do my best work with a clear goal and room to run. Tell me what has to be true and by when, and I will come back with the architecture, the trade-offs I rejected on the way, and a date I intend to hold.
I write before I build. A diagram or a short design document is how I find the problem I actually have — and it gives the team something to argue with now, rather than arguing with my code three weeks later. I would rather be corrected on a page than in production.
